I Comment Therefore I Am

by UnknownMami on May 31, 2010

Welcome to another edition of I Comment Therefore I Am, where I put together a post from comments I’ve left on other blogs. Below are some of my favorite posts from the previous week and what they inspired me to say.

At One Cluttered Brain, I learned that the author has learned how to accept and truly love herself.  If we don’t love ourselves, who else will?

Loving yourself is a wonderful thing to do; it reminds others to love themselves as well.

Meeko Fabulous does a regular feature on Fridays called, “Ask Meeko” where he gives great advice to his readers sort of like one of the Landers  sisters. Recently, he flipped it and asked for advice on a situation that has come up with a friend who is now a roommate. For the question visit the original post, here’s my advice:

I would take a trip to an adult store and purchase a copy of a magazine featuring naked old men and one featuring naked young girls. I would place both magazines on top of the keyboard of your laptop with a note on top that reads, “Please enjoy in the privacy of your own room, to each his own, more power to you as long as you are not powering up my computer for porn.”

In the midst of some exciting news, Doreen finds herself both nervous in a positive and negative way.

Please focus on the positive nervousness about your book. There is absolutely no point in worrying about the negative. If something negative happens you can deal with it at the time, but do not waste any time in the now worrying about something that has not happened. (Note: Just because I give out this advice does not mean I am good at following it.)

Jenny from “My Life as Jenny!” spent some quality time with her daughter and was unable to convince said daughter that teleporting would be a much better super-power to have than flying.  We try to guide our children, but sometimes they just won’t listen.

Did you tell your daughter she would get bugs in her teeth and hair from flying? Also, it would age her before her time because of all the wind and sun. She really needs to reconsider her stance on teleporting.

I was checking out life is a phoenix and the author was sharing 7 facts about herself, but she decided to skip #5.

I can’t believe you skipped #5. Does that mean you are a “numberist”, that you discriminate against certain numbers? Oh, I hope not because I believe in equal rights for all numbers.

At Bolggin 2 Noggin I was presented with a list of things that you can do to annoy others and amuse yourself. Sounds like my kind of list! Here’s my contribution:

One of the things I really like to do is that whenever I am at a store and someone drops money, no matter how far away they are, I yell, “That’s my money! I dropped it!” Some people laugh, some people get pissed, but I think it’s hilarious EVERY SINGLE TIME!

That’s it for this edition of I Comment Therefore I Am.

Do you give good comment? Wanna play along? Go forth, spread the comment love, and turn it into a post (I keep a draft post open while I read blogs throughout the week).  Recycle, reuse, and reduce my friends; it’s the wave of the future.

Oh and feel free to comment on my comments otherwise how will I know that you exist.

If you play along please link back and/or post the button below. Spread the love, spread the love!

Fragmented Fridays

by UnknownMami on May 28, 2010

Those of you that have been here for awhile are well aware of my on-going feud with Word Verification. I can’t stand the Bitch! For the longest I just passively took her crap, until she started insulting me. Oh sure, she tries to be sly and and changes spellings on me so her insults are not so obvious, but phonetically her non-words still sound like insults. Well, she has really started hitting below the belt. She called me a racial epithet! Okay, so maybe it wasn’t exactly a racial epithet, but I can read between the lines.

More WV
Do you see that? She called me an “unhonki” as in not a “honky”. Hey don’t get mad at me! I don’t use that word, it’s WV that took it there. I got pissed and told her I was Latina. You’d think it would end there, but no. I kept leaving comments throughout the blogosphere and I couldn’t shake the feeling that WV was still taunting me. I was frustrated and angry and then she tries to get on my good side with this:
mantra
Mantra?! She wanted to know my mantra. Like I would reveal that to her! We’re not friends, but she’s trying to act like she wants to get to know me better.  If I told her my mantra she would just use it against me later.

My friends, I’m changing. I hardly recognize myself. I’ve never been a morning person. If I could sleep until noon every day, I would do so gladly. I’ve never been one of those people that felt life was passing them by while they slept. You know the ones, the ones that say, “I can sleep when I die”; to that I would always say, “No you can’t because you’ll be DEAD!”. So who is this person that has been getting up at 5:45 or 6:00 am, while everyone else is still asleep? I’ll tell you who she is. She is a woman desperate for a few moments to herself.

For about a week now, I’ve been rising before my husband and daughter. I get some work done, I blog, and most importantly I get to spend a few glorious moments alone. I’m a better happier person because of these solitary mornings. Now if my daughter doesn’t take a significant nap, I don’t feel like “my” time was taken from me. I can count on “my” time in the morning and any other time I get is just gravy.

When I got back from Miami there was a package waiting for me from Mimi, “The Cursing Crafter”! It was so nice to go through my mail and find something other than bills. Here’s what was in the package:

SDC13991

It’s a lovely sign that reads, “Warning: All  conversations are subject to blogging. Especially if you say something stupid.” Thank you Mimi, this sign might help me avoid some lawsuits.

And that’s all she wrote!

Have a great weekend!

I Don’t Want to Write about this Stuff!!!

by UnknownMami on May 27, 2010

Here we go again! I try to stick my head in the sand and ignore politics and current events, but some things are impossible to ignore. I don’t want to write about this stuff! I’d rather be getting my funny on.

You can thank Fox anchorman (former co-anchor at ABC’s 20/20),  John Stossel for this post. Recently, Stossel called for an action to repeal the business side of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And I quote:

“It’s time now to repeal that part of the law because private businesses ought to get to discriminate. And I won’t ever go to a place that’s racist and I will tell everybody else not to and I’ll speak against them. But it should be their right to be racist.”

Really?! It should be their right to be racist and discriminate? Hmmm, I thought perhaps it was “our” right not to be discriminated against. Apparently, Mr. Stossel believes that in a capitalist nation businesses will do the right thing because it will not serve them financially to discriminate.

Really?! Have we learned nothing from history?

Que!? Que!? For Free…

May 26, 2010

At the risk of embarrassing myself, I am going to be totally honest and admit to you that when I got the email inviting me to be a media guest of General Mills for the re-launch of QueRicaVida.com in Miami I was more than a little skeptical. I had a friend visiting from LA when [...]

Change in Programming

May 24, 2010

I’m back from Miami. I’m tired. Traveling with a toddler, even one that was exceptionally “good”, is exhausting. Re-instituting a schedule for said toddler, once home, is trying, tedious, and terribly tough.   Normally on Mondays I bring you, “I Comment Therefore I Am”, but I didn’t do much commenting last week. Fortunately, I still [...]

Another Conversation or Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

May 18, 2010

One night, not so long ago,  Unknown Papi and Unknown Mami lay in bed together. Unknown Papi brought up eggs. Unknown Mami doesn’t know much about eggs except that she eats them regularly. Unknown Papi wanted to know if the eggs that they eat would turn into chickens if they were left to their own [...]
