How to Get the Direct URL of a Tweet or "If Mami Can, You Can Too"

by UnknownMami on May 6, 2010

Perhaps most likely, you are more web savvy than I, but for those of you that are not I thought I would share how to do something that until recently was a mystery to me: how to get the direct URL of a tweet.

Why would you need the direct url to a tweet? Well, in my case I wanted to get an extra entry to a $50 giveaway for a Chili’s gift card that A Nut in a Nutshell is hosting by tweeting about it (you can enter too by clicking on the link before May 17th). I knew how to do the tweeting part, but she asked that I provide the direct url to the tweet for my extra entry. Well, scratching my head in confusion after tweeting did not provide the direct url, but I figured it out. Here’s what you do:

  • Go to Twitter and sign on
  • Post a tweet. In my case it was:
  • Enter to win a Chili’s $50 gift card! @blueviolet #giveaway http://bit.ly/aF5bPR

  • Click “Profile” in the upper right hand corner
  • Locate your tweet
  • Click on the time stamp link of the tweet (conveniently pointed out for you in above picture)
  • This will take you to a page for that individual tweet
  • Copy the url from the address bar

That concludes this episode of If Mami Can, You Can Too and remember: if Mami can, then you can too!
