I’m Screwed!!!

by UnknownMami on June 29, 2010

I lost my job!

For the last 18 months I’ve been blessed with a stay at home job. I was hired as an independent contractor. My initial contract was for 3 months, but it kept getting renewed-until now. Today, I found out that it is not getting renewed and I am beyond bummed. I’m scared. I’m worried. I don’t know how I’m going to help provide for my family. I knew this job wasn’t forever, but I just didn’t expect it to end right at this moment. I am totally unprepared.

Please send me some positive thoughts. I could use all the help I can get right now.

I Comment Therefore I Am

by UnknownMami on June 28, 2010

Welcome to another edition of I Comment Therefore I Am, where I put together a post from comments I’ve left on other blogs. Below are some of my favorite posts from the previous week and what they inspired me to say.

This episode is very brief as I have been quite busy and haven’t been able to get my comment on.

While visiting my buddy Steven over at Life in the Fish Bowl, he reminded me to live in the now. This seems to be a recurring lesson in my life at the moment, which prompted me to share:

I recently had a conversation with my stepfather and I was being very tentative about a certain something that is causing me joy right now because what if it goes away? He said, “It’s a gift, nothing is guaranteed. Enjoy the gift while you have it.”

Brainella shared a winking incident and subsequent conversation. She reminded me of my past as a “winker”.

I used to wink a lot. It got me into trouble. I was waiting tables and I asked a man if he would like some dessert and then I winked. He misinterpreted my intentions.

That’s it for this edition of I Comment Therefore I Am.

Do you give good comment? Wanna play along? Go forth, spread the comment love, and turn it into a post (I keep a draft post open while I read blogs throughout the week). Recycle, reuse, and reduce my friends; it’s the wave of the future.

Oh and feel free to comment on my comments otherwise how will I know that you exist.

If you play along please link back and/or post the button below. Spread the love, spread the love!

Fragmented Fridays

by UnknownMami on June 24, 2010

I’m still fighting with my nemesis, Word Verification. I am so sick of her and antics!!! One minute she is being a total bitch to me and the next she’s acting like she’s my friend.

Many of you know that I’ve had issues with my eyes, for those of you that don’t the short story is: corneal ulcers, iritis, and I can no longer safely wear contacts. Well, WV knows this too because I’m pretty sure she subscribes to my blog privately. Anyway, one evening she kept giving me letters that were all smushed together and difficult to read. I , being the lady that I am, cursed her out under my breath. She came back with this:

SquintSquint! Can you believe that? That’s just cruel considering the issues I’ve had with my eyes.

Did it end there? Nope. Then she gets all pseudo-friendly. Somehow she found out that I was moving to WordPress from Blogger. I don’t know who her source is, but someone told her. One of my biggest fears was losing subscribers, but I told myself to just do it. Well, at some point I must have mumbled “it’s not like anyone will even care” and then I went off to leave a comment and I got this:

WV Yeah right! She doesn’t care, she just likes to keep me under her thumb where she can watch me more closely. Well guess what WV, I moved! I’m on WordPress now and if you no longer get my feed I guess you’ll have to resubscribe.

I can’t lose for winning. I made out like a bandit! look what I won from Independent Mami:

SDC14144

I won the full line of lip care from softlips! Let me tell you why I am so excited about this. I hardly wear make-up, it’s not necessary when you wear a paper bag over your head most days. Another reason I don’t wear much make-up is that I have ridiculously sensitive skin. Well, the items you see above are free of: preservatives, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, and even gluten. They also have natural mineral sunscreen, which I am not allergic too. I’m stoked! Thank you, Independent Mami!!!

Last night I was exhausted! I could not wait to get into bed. I slept well for a few hours then I woke up at 4am and could not go back to sleep. The sun came up while I just lay there wishing I could sleep. Then at around 6am, I fell asleep only to be promptly woken up by my daughter.

And that’s all she wrote!

Have a great weekend!

Never Say Never

June 23, 2010

I feel like I am never ready for change. I get set in my ways, I get comfortable. You know the saying…if it ain’t broke then, I’m just gonna keep usin’ it. I’m a creature of habit. Not that I’m proud of that. The world isn’t changed by creatures of habit. Sometimes, even though I’m [...]

Safety: Then and Now

June 22, 2010

I don’t consider myself a safety nut as far as my daughter is concerned, but I guess in comparison to how I was raised, to how many of us were raised I am certainly more nutty about safety. A few examples: I’m pretty sure I was never in a car seat. Ever! They wouldn’t let [...]

Fragmented Fridays

June 17, 2010

I share bits and pieces of myself with you here and what I get back is so much more. For my odds and ends, you give me a sense of wholeness, a sense of belonging, of being accepted. Every time, I share something that feels a little too personal, you come back with assurances, support, [...]

Are you there God? It’s Me, Mami.

June 16, 2010

Do you believe in God? I’m not religious. By that I mean, I do not belong to any sort of organized religion. I was raised Catholic. I do not consider myself a Catholic anymore. I do not attend religious services unless I’m invited to a wedding or Bat Mitzvah. When I speak of a higher [...]
