Your cute adorable daughter's fears are for a moment, I know that it seems upsetting but, I know hers will go away. As parents I have learned that our role is often to put perspective on life for our children. She will be fine.

About your bilingual post, I am French and I was the only one speaking French to my kids when they were growing up, expect for the yearly visits from French grandparents, I muddle through and put up with them answering me in English a lot of the time. They are now all fluent in French! They have surprised me.It actually worked with perseverance.

That is horrible of the man they shot and killed. I am glad things are calm right now there. There is nothing worse then riots and people going crazy.

That's strange about the band-aid thing…my kids love them. They are almost addicted to them. I think they hurt themselves so they can have them. Little masochistic band-aid seekers!! Your husband sounds like my husband when I say I have writers block.

My husband is no help at all when it comes to blogging. He thinks the whole thing is stupid.

I think it's good she doesn't like band-aids. My almost step kids are addicted and wear them like sleeve tats. Belly, arms, legs, fingers, and toes. It's a little strange at age 4 and 6! lol.

That is terrible about the happenings in Oakland. Praying for safety and peace. Awful and sad tragedy all around.

Well, if you watch the video and I don't necessarily recommend that you do, it was not in self defense. The guy that got shot was on the ground, not resisting and being held by two other officers. The officer on trial pulls out his gun and shoots him in the back. His defense is that he thought he was shooting his taser, not his gun. There was no need for a taser either. It is all very tragic and the community is upset because the man who was killed was black and the officer is white and there is a lot of racial tension in the community with the police.

I have an odd fear – I am afraid whenever I take a bath/shower in a tub that is not on ground floor, that the tub will fall through the floor to the level below. It doesn't stop me from showering (thank God), but I always think about it..

I think the band aids are pretty cute, too bad they upset your daughter. I bought some with Spongebob on them for my granddaughter. Have you given her the unopened bandaid to see if she would take off the paper and check out the bandaid?

Wow, I haven't heard a thing about that trial here in Salt Lake. However, I am sure that if there was rioting, we'd hear all about it.

Strange about the hurt hand.

There are only two conclusions I can make from the Bart shooting video – that Mehserle made a terrible mistake (as he claims), or that he's a man on the edge of a nervous breakdown. To deliberately shoot someone who poses no threat, in plain view, in a world where cameras abound would be utterly crazy.

I know nothing about this case, other than what I've seen this morning but based on the above, I think the verdict was probably correct. I just hope the public will think likewise. It's bad enough that one young life has been needlessly lost without the threat of more violence.

I'm assuming Mehserle's mental state has been assessed? Here in the UK there would now also be an independent enquiry into the case and police/public relations – hopefully that will be the next step.

This is such a tragic waste of a young life.

The family of Oscar Grant is not happy with the verdict because they feel that their son was murdered. I'm glad that Mehserle was found guilty of something. The whole thing is just weird. It makes no sense to me and I can not wrap my head around it. Mehserle did flee jurisdiction and had to be brought back before the trial. As far as his mental state, he was assessed sane enough to be convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

For the most part the demonstrations ended up being peaceful. What I find really perturbing is that opportunistic anarchist groups take the opportunity to riot and loot. It has nothing to do with really caring about the case or outcome and this is a community that really needs to heal.

My daughter is just the opposite. She likes to cover herself in band aids!

Damn he is good! He should charge waaaaay more! haha!

How funny (not ha ha, but odd) that bandaids scare her. I guess everyone has an irrational fear or two.
