The other day I was chatting with my buddy and Positivity Guru, Simón Felix (better known as the “Master of the glass full), about how we incorporate milk into our diet. He tends to like his milk straight-up and has even been known to double fist (or double elevate) his glasses.
Me, I prefer my milk ice cold with a chocolate chip cookie chaser.
My daughter, Put Pie, likes her milk on the go! Whenever we go out, I bring along a milk box. They are great because they travel light and don’t have to be refrigerated. It’s funny because at the play ground most kids have juice boxes, but my Put Pie does not like juice boxes; she prefers her boxes filled with the white stuff.
All this talk of milk reminded me of a favorite childhood treat: arroz con leche. My Tia used to make this for me all the time and I love it. My Tia is too far away now, so I don’t get to have it much. Simón heard my lament and told me it was time to make my own. I resisted because there is no way I can make arroz con leche as good as my Tia’s, but having access to my own Positivity Guru on Twitter and Facebook comes in handy when I’m feeling less than positive. So in the spirit of Positivismo, I made my own version of arroz con leche and you know what? It is not my Tia’s, but it is mine and it is REALLY good!

I’ll share the full recipe in a later post.
Thank you Simón for encouraging me to recreate a tasty treat from my childhood!
Simón would also like to encourage you to enter the “Little Masters” Facebook Photo Contest. Prizes include a stainless steel refrigerator, professional blender, bicycle and more! Entering is easy—just follow the instructions to upload a picture of your “Little Master”. Enter HERE.
