Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream

Martin Luther King Jr Quote

There is a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr. in my daughter’s preschool. One day when I go to pick her up, my daughter points to the picture and says, “Mama, mama, his dream came true!”

When I ask her what his dream was, she tells me that his dream was that “everybody would be nice to everybody.” There was a part of me that wanted to tell her, that it is still a dream in progress, but her face was so unbelievably excited to share the good news with me that I smiled and thanked her for telling me.

I’m not sure that I even knew about Martin Luther King, Jr. when I was 4. I’m glad my daughter does. That’s progress.

My 10 year old grandson told me about MLK and Rosa Parks yesterday.  I too was pleased that he remembered what he was taught.

Love this.  That is absolute progress.  I so hope & pray that the progress continues and that the next generations can do more then we ever dreamed when it comes to human rights!

You make a very good point at the end.  When I think of my father era compared to mine I find big differences in attitudes about race and gender.  great post

Oh how sweet and wonderfully innocent.  I wish she was totally right.  If only we were all as kind and forgiving as children then the world would be.

That’s a beautiful quote. Reminds me of the Buddha’s quote “Hatred never ceases by hatred, but by love alone is healed”Happy Day to you! I share your daughter’s dream and practice it as much as I can. Hugs to y’all!
