Making garlic bread and forgetting to put garlic on the bread is almost as bad as applying for a job and forgetting to submit your résumé. I did both this week. Why? Because…
On the other hand, It’s amazing how much you can get done, if you actually do what you are supposed to be doing.
I spend a lot of time online, time that I can easily lose track of. At a certain point, it becomes unproductive. I’m not really doing anything anymore, just killing time. I’ve started to set alarms for myself. I give myself a half hour window to get things done online, which keeps me from straying too much and then when the alarm goes off, I set it for 10 minutes and do some housework in that time. In 10 minutes I’m able to get a lot done because I know the timer is going to go off and I only spend those 10 minutes cleaning, not thinking about cleaning, not planning on cleaning, not getting ready to clean, but actually cleaning.
Oh and making garlic bread without garlic is way better than applying for a job with no résumé because at least you still end up with toasted buttered bread.
And now your Friday Fortune Cookie
(don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):
Focus on what you’re doing.
