DIY Polka Dot Washer and Dryer

Sometimes the Universe conspires to help me. For example, I had a washing machine that was held together by duct tape and a prayer. No I’m not kidding, my husband and I had rigged some wiring so that it would keep working and used duct tape to seal it. I’m thinking it probably wasn’t the safest thing to do, but the price was right. Anyway, I received a gift card from Lowe’s with the instructions to do something to make my home more energy efficient!

Broken washing machine with duct tape

Do you see where this is going?

Broken washing machine + Lowe’s gift card = New HE Washing Machine

We got a beautiful brand spankin’ new Samsung High Efficiency Energy Star Washer that is going to save us so much on water and energy costs. How is that for energy efficient?

So, the washing machine is great, we love it, but we did not replace the as dryer well, because it ain’t broke and we’re just not the kind of people who will go replacing things that aren’t broken. As you know, sometimes we use duct tape to fix things that are broken. So, we had a mismatched pair and although I’m totally fine with mixed marriages (I’m in one), I like my appliances to be kinda matchy-matchy. So, I decided I would cover both of them with polka dots and now I have the cutest polka dot washer and dryer set that I’ve ever seen.

How to put polka dots on washer and dryer

It was easy. Here’s all you need to do to make a DIY polka dot washer and dryer set!

  • Have a washer and dryer, they need not match.
  • Make sure washer and dryer are clean and dust-free.
  • Place polka dot vinyl stickers wherever you like on both washing machine and dryer.

And that’s how easy it is to make yourself a polka dot washer and dryer set.

The great thing about the vinyl stickers is that if you get sick of them, they are very easy to remove.

FABULOUS! I am so happy that you are no longer duct-taped together. Pink polka dots are way better! Also kudos to your man for loving on your W & D in such a cute way. Mine would’ve definitely vetoed that! :-D

I love it, it is so darn cute! I think I may just have to do this to mine. Going to check out your link for the stickers.

We had a washer/dryer that were each hand me downs of hand me downs and nearly 20 years old. So we had been watching sale ads for a long long time. One day Kevin saw a washer/dryer that were probably misprinted and around a couple to three hundred dollars lower than the lowest sale price we had ever seen so we bought them. They weren’t broke but old……our water/electricity bills went down a bit so we are glad we found energy efficient ones.
