I love that even when I don’t have my DSLR or point and shoot cameras with me, my iPhone still lets me take pictures that I love. Here are a couple of my all-time favorites that where so easy to snap.

Fragmented Fridays

Sometimes I just don’t get what the big deal is about whatever happens to be popular. Take for example cake pops. Big deal!

Everyone goes on and on about them like they’re the best thing since sliced cake. They don’t sound all that great to me. I mean aren’t they just mushed up cake and frosting formed into a ball and dipped in a candy shell? I don’t even really like frosting and the candy shell just seems like overkill.

Seriously people, it’s just a sugar bomb!

Moving on…

Don’t you love getting packages in the mail? It’s so nice. I recently got an unassuming package and opened it to find this box:

Surprise package

It looks a little like a baby wipes box, but it’s too light to have baby wipes in it. What could it be?

Packaging peanuts

Someone took care to wrap up the contents so they wouldn’t get damaged. Is it something breakable?

Cake pops

If I’m not mistaken those are cake pops or cake balls ‘cause they don’t have sticks on them or maybe they’re cake bites. Hmm…mmm…

Cake bite

Well, they are awfully pretty. I think this one is talking to me and it’s saying, “Bite me!”

Cake bite bitten

Oh for the love of all things sweet! These things are THE BOMB! So friggin’ delicious! I swear they’re better than cake. Really, if you haven’t tried them…what are you waiting for?

Wondering who sent them to me? The lovely Mrs. 4444 from Half-Past Kissin’ Time. Yup, she’s a cake pop pusher and I’m hooked!

Cake balls are meant to be enjoyed.

Guess who ate all of Put Pie’s Halloween candy? One hint: it wasn’t Put Pie. My 3 year old daughter has a refined palate when it comes to candy. She only likes dark chocolate, the darker the better. Although she had tons of fun trick or treating, when it came time to sample her take she was less than impressed.

I have a sensitive heart and a non-discriminating palate and when I saw the candy laying there forlornly, I did what any decent person would do, I put it out of it’s misery. The first couple of times I was euthanizing the candy, I felt like I had to sneak it because Put Pie might get mad. Then days passed and she never asked about it, so I went about openly providing relief for those sweet discarded confections. You could call me an angel of mercy, I wouldn’t argue with you.

This is one joke I wouldn’t have been able to play on Put Pie because she just wasn’t invested. Perhaps, someday in the future when both she and her sister are older I’ll be able to have some wicked fun.

Apparently, some took offense at the joke being played on these kids. Something about trust being compromised and it being taken too far. Not me. It’s a joke! Taking it too far would be telling them their pet died when it hadn’t, but telling them you ate all their Halloween candy when you haven’t…not too far. I found it funny and I believe the children will recover and no long-lasting harm has been done, but I also love practical jokes and have been known to take it too far on occasion.

When eating something yummy, there is no shame in licking your fingers.

My psychiatrist is retiring, my issues are not. Bummer.

I have wonderful friends. I hope none of them ever decides to retire from our friendship.

One wonderful friend, on finding out (via this blog) that I’ve been blue, sent me Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace.

;

How nice is that? She sent me over 900 pages of reading pleasure. Like I said, I have wonderful friends.

Ever since being appointed Social Secretary for my children, I’ve been lucky enough to set up playdates for them that include some very pleasant socializing for myself as well. I’m fortunate to know some pretty cool grown ups that have kids that can play with my kids.

Sometimes we get invited over to play

and end up being treated

to a homemade

lovingly prepared

meal.

This Social Secretary gig ain’t so bad.

One must be available, alert, active, and adaptable.

Fragmented Fridays

We are still waiting for our tax return and I am particularly excited about getting it. Why? Because the other day out of the blue my husband says, “I was thinking we could use some of the tax return money to buy you a DSLR camera.” Sometimes that man makes me fall in love with [...]

I am a brilliant typo-ist!!! I was leaving a comment on a blog and meant to write “perspective”, but my fingers typed “peerspective”. Tell me that shouldn’t be a word?! Come on, you know it should! Sometimes the outlook of our peers, their peerspective, affects our perspective. It’s definitely worthy of being considered as an [...]

Last Friday, I went to the movies with a good friend. I had free movie passes that were about to expire and I called up my friend and asked him if he would like to take me out. He said yes! We ended up seeing “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work”, mostly because he wanted [...]

Fragmented Fridays (Family on the Brain)

July 29, 2010

Family. I have family on the brain. My husband’s aunt came to visit and we met her for the first time. When I say “we”, I am including my husband. He had never met this aunt before. The story is long and not mine to tell and it was started by my husband’s grandfather (whom [...]

I’m still fighting with my nemesis, Word Verification. I am so sick of her and antics!!! One minute she is being a total bitch to me and the next she’s acting like she’s my friend. Many of you know that I’ve had issues with my eyes, for those of you that don’t the short story [...]

I share bits and pieces of myself with you here and what I get back is so much more. For my odds and ends, you give me a sense of wholeness, a sense of belonging, of being accepted. Every time, I share something that feels a little too personal, you come back with assurances, support, [...]
